After getting the cylinder head from shop and gaskets+belts from Toyota, it was time to get something back together.
I still have the bottom off and I am about to open the oil pump and maybe check the crankshafts, but I want to get the upper part of the engine together in order to clear the room. Lifted the engine on the old 200 liter methanol barrel. Now it is on a nice working height. Should have done this to begin with. So I sanded with wet 800 paper and oil the gasket mating surface (the head was straightened in the shop, valves seated and valve clearances fixed). The head bolt tightening was frightening. As per instructions, first 45Nm an then 3x90 degrees. I literally fet the metal reaching the limit of elasticity. But now it is done and it is per instructions. Then camshafts, and the belt-end sealing plate together with camshaft pulley. Off with the charger brushes, they were almost finished. Will renew them too. Still thinking about the water pump. Must check Toyota about that. I have to make a special tool to get the injector gaskets off. They are still there after the engine shop visit. Maybe I get the injectors checked by Toyota. http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.p...p;showentry=438 |
