A word of warning, for some time now, every time I have filled up with petrol, drove the Rav home, in the drive got out, the wife would say there's a terrible smell of petrol, on removing the cover over filler tube, what greeted me!!, a hole I could get three fingers in. so all you Rav owners in the morning wheel off, plastic cover off pressure wash and paint, good luck John.

You are quite right.... I replaced the petrol hoses and the breather tank pipe was almost non-existant. Several pipes around the tank were badly corroded also so I replaced them as well. Be careful to buy pipe suitable for petrol as not all plastic/rubber/ or reinforced flexible pipe is suitable. As it happened, I had to replace the tank as it had been used to jack the car up.

The same problem exists with the Previa of around 1994 or later; and with other cars. The plastic guard on the filler pipe is not sealed to the bodywork so the gunge just mounts up!
