My New 1980 Corolla Ke70

After regretfully selling my last Corolla KE70 last spring, I was on the hunt again, and now finally got my hands on another one....

This is a 1980 , 1 owner (85 years old) from new.

.....72k with full Toyota History from the same Toyota Garage which has changed its name 3 times over the last 3 decades....29 service stamps....

The V5 is the same one issued to the lady in 1980 ....lol...

I drove it back 250 miles and I was told it was never driven over 45mph...

Mechanically its faultless... as the 4K engine is very reliable..

It came with a 13 month MOT too....

Bodywork let it down as usual...

BUT !!! not rust, the poor old dear used a spray can to spray the doors herself and other parts due to colour fade..

Very minimal rust..

Ive had the car for a couple of weeks now and work has started...

Brand new rear arches fitted ......

Fully sanded down all over.....

There was rust on bottom of Passenger side door, was filled in previously, re-done, welded and a good job was done....

I was hunting a door and front wing but couldnt source from anywhere.....so had to with the welding....

Ordered Brand Spanking New Front and rear bumpers.... along with the Black Corners too....

Both current bumpers had dents in them ....

Could have salvaged them but would look odd...

So just bought a set of new ones....

In pic below, top one Brand new front, underneath it is the old one...

Was tempted with the mirrors, but im keeping it as it is with the one side mirror only..

Not sure yet,

but anyway, I'd look at general classics shows - Knebworth, Retro Rides at Mallory and that sort of thing.

I hope those are both on this year because they were fantastic last year. Both had several very nice Toyotas.

In my experience the the Jap Only shows can be very good, but they seem to be increasingly dominated by large bodykits, performance mods etc.

That said, it would be nice to see more cars like this at such shows, so I don't want to put you off them.

Im sure there a lot of people out there who would just like to see the Non Modded Box Standard Classic....

Though I was very tempted to mod this one out.....Usual 4A-GE Dream.. But its very costly and time consuming..... (But would been a nice little Sleeper Car :D )

So ive just opted with the simple Light, Grill & possible wheels only change...

Keep it original as possible......

Bugger..... The Quad Lights arrived today from my friend....

and guess what the 'casing' for the Passenger side is smashed to bits inside his suitcase....

Now im stuck without the casing...

Going to have to wait for a while for a replacement as no-ones seem to sell them seperatly..

You normally find them in pairs.....

:( Well it looks like i'll have to put the original lights back until I get the new part....

Oh and Im trying to get my KE looking good for japfest, It would be Kool if we can get a few More KEs together to show the big bodykit guys how a car should look!! I may even have a mate who has a KE coming over from Paris!!!! Be good to see you there!!
