Warning Messages (x4!)

Hi all,

My T180 decided to make like a Christmas tree and flashed a whole array of warnings tonight. Out of the blue abs yellow light + yellow triangle(!) mark. This was closely followed by readouts: check braking system.......check VSC system.......check ABS system.......check 4x4 system......

Good job still in warranty!

Will be ringing the dealer tomorrow and using alternative transport reading the advice in the handbook but wondered if anyone else had ever had similar problems?

I tried searching the forum but came up with nothing.

I had exactly that about 2 months ago!! Is your car driving OK? My went into limp home mode. Turned out that I needed a new EGR (?) sensor.

It was driving (seemingly) OK - certainly was not in limp home mode.

Getting picked up by the dealers tomorrow so I'll post once I know what the problem was and whether it was the same thing.

Typically if a traction control AND an ABS warning is displayed then you've got a problem with an ABS sensor.

If you've got a multi-meter then you can check the resistance of the wheel sensors by unplugging them down near the wheel and stick the probes into the pins/connectors. I'm not familiar with Toyota sensors, but I'm sure that they all follow the same principle. All your looking for is one sensor to be significantly different from the other three. On some cars, the rear sensors read differently from the front by a 'bit' - but you're lookign for a significant difference.
