Don't know if this has been asked before or whether there are any official tests etc but all the mpg/performance figures are always for a new vehicle with an A1 new battery pack.
How are vehicles that are several years old performing ? Do they still meet the official mpg figures etc ? and is the same "on road" performance, acceleration etc still as good as when they were new ?

I'm not a Prius owner but I may seriously consider something like this in future but this is too me an important point.

My Prius T Spirit is 2 years old and MPG is improving all the time. My son also has two year old Prius T Spirit but with a lot higher mileage than mine. He uses it to travel to the continent regularly and his MPG is very good as well. With regard to batteries they are guaranteed for 8 years. Performance and reliability is excellent.

Hi Chris,
I was asking because I tend to keep my cars quite a long time, my Corolla TSport will be 8 year old next spring... time to be looking for a replacement, so hopefully want something as long lasting and trouble free as this has been. I didn't know the batteries were guaranteed 8 yrs... that's good to know.
Thanks

Sadly, that information is a little out of date.

The new Prius model (Generation 3) only has a 5 year hybrid warranty. sad.gif
The previous Prius model, years 2004-2009 (early), had the 8 year hybrid warranty.

I agree with Timberwolf but Mooly was asking about cars several years old. My comments were based on our family cars which are two year old cars.

The warranty on the battery/Hybrid system is dependant on where you are ,in Australia and US the warranty is longer if the battery is the same Toyota must be pretty sure it will last the extra time,so that infers that the shorter warranty is just a cost cutting exercise which will save Toyota paying out on the odd faulty battery/Hybrid

I have just recently replaced my gen2 Prius which was registered Dec 2003, which probbaly makes it one of the oldest ones in the UK. The car had covered 81k miles and still returned an excellent mpg. There have been no problems with the battery or indeed any part of the hybrid system Hopefully my gen3 will be just as reliable.
