Starting to hear a light squeek on the rear wheels. Prob time to replace the pads (over 60k). How much to expect to pay? Got one quote of £100 - this reasonable?

Sounds about right for a normal car at a main dealers price. Guess/hope simila prices apply for the Prius. Can't believe you've done 60k on pads either (meant in a good way). How long did the fronts last?

Fronts already changed. It was squealing a bit at 50k but thought to apply the advice of removing rust by braking from Neutral. Still squealing at 60k whereby the pads were over 90% worn thus the change. I'm definitely not a hard braker. I like to brake slowly and smoothly and I am definitely surprised why the brake pads did not last longer. I was even told by the dealer my discs needed replacing which I declined. Another visual check a week later at the same dealer but by another mechanic resulted in no more reports on the discs! To me it seem suspiciously like they were having me on concerning the discs!

The £100 quote is apparently Toyota standard pricing - but where can the standard price list be found?

Interestingly, at the Prius iii launch at Mira in the introduction in the main pod they reckonned that the pads and dsks should last the lifetime of the car. Certainly I did 74k in my Prius iii with no replacements, but there again 805 of my journey was on motorways. dry.gif
