Right, so something snapped in my head and i walked out.....


Went to get a price for a de-cat straight through pipe, 4 new tyres and 4 wheel alignment. The bloke said;

"ITS ONLY AN MR2, WHY BOTHER".

Um, well you could say what would you like to sell a decat pipe for - RS Turbo, XR3i? Those are obviously far classier cars!!

Unfortunately some plonkers think the MR2 is a hairdressers car with low power/performance. The fact that even in N/A form it can out perform most of the so called "hot hatches" and smaller sports cars - MX5 etc. seems easily forgotten.

It seems the salesman was not interested in making a sale, strange really, but still if he says that to all his potential customers, he'll be out of business in no time. Just take your money elsewhere.

Oh, and next time you see him on the street, stop him for a routine drug search

Used to get that a lot with the hachi.... one of more amusing incidents was when a couple of lads in an escort were revving next to me... his mate pointed at my car and laughed... lights changed, hachi flew away from them left them for dust, can't wait for the MR2 to do the same

This is only one guy's opinion, and doesn't even necessarily reflect the garage itself.

MR2's are/can be nice cars, we know that.... and if 'they' don't, then surely that's better for us?

What I mean is, would you rather every chav in the country sold his xr3i/escort for an mr2?

If the answer to that is 'no' then you should expect ignorance on the odd occasion!

In my opinion it's far better for the MR2 to remain a slightly 'exclusive' motor, i can't think of many other 2 seater/sports car/open top/rear wheel drive/inexpensive cars on the road.

There's no need for all the high horse behaviour though

Sometime it does feel like that fella .. they are not cheap, getting bought by Neds and the MR2 is getting a right boy racer image and I'm not happy about it ..

It doesnt help having people like Jimlad raggin his MR2 round the 1 way system!

im in mansfield, near derby myself let me know if owts goin on! (ok so i aint got an mr2 but i can pretend!)

I'm just outside Sutton In Ashfield, between Mansfield and Alfreton. I'm also a member on www.mr2oc.co.uk and we have meets in the Alfreton/Huthwaite area every couple of months or so.
Last Sunday the 18th, we took a convoy of 10 MR2s, (1 MKI, 8 MKIIs and a MKIII) from Alfreton Park, around the A and B roads thru Matlock to a pub in Huthwaite for some grub and a chat. Check out the event reports for a run down and pics of the meet. Next time we get together I'll put a post on here. Everbody is welcome as long as you love MR2s.

I'm a member of IMOC also but havent been back since joining here. I'm always taking my girlfriend round Matlock. She lives in Sutton.

We will have to have a mini meet when the weather gets better..
