Right .. I'm thinking of adding Neons to my car .. and I wanna get the tubes (not LED's) and I want them proper hidden so you can't tell they are there.

I've gone for a blue/silver/black colour scheme everywhere else .. so I've have thought Blue would be best .. but every other car has blue too .. White maybe?

i'd advise strongly against it...

i think blue would look quite nice but why not the flat LED's? far better than neons aint they?

Best underlighting I saw was on pick-ups in the states, some serious chrome going on underneath, and a blcklight to highlight it.
But that was about 8 year ago, b4 max the muppet got hold of it for his saxo/nova/etc

I say go for it if you want em. i spent years on SXOC with the "oooo lax power" "neons are crap" "your gay if you have neons" etc etc narrow mindidness, sod 'em if you like em go and do it, its your car...and you do things to it for yerself not other people....

Dont think white would look right, although i could be wrong, blue/green might look ok...

Any reason why your not going for the led ones? they tend to be a lot brighter and can be hidden just as well as tubes....

I also know of a decent set going for sale if your interested, and they change colour so that would clear up the decision

Neons serve no purpose what so ever, your car looks nice enough as it is (except those door decals!)

If you want to throw subtle and smooth out the window then go for it, as stated above, it really is your car chief.

But surely there are better things to spend the money on?

500 quid for the ice-led set??!!

Think my mates looking for around the £200 mark, they are actually the ones hanging on the bottom of the shock mr2.... and are very impressive, but nick being the poser he is is going for the ICE LED onesnow! Current ones were about £350 new, and havent been on their long...

I do like the BLACK light (UV) specially if they are well hidden shame they don't do led ones

ICELED costs a lot (but they'll knock a few quid off if you call them)

But, the results are amazing, watch the video, see how awesome it is, and it's a load better in the flesh.

i think the poll is speaking the right choice so far.

The reason I don't want to go LED is cause they don't throw the light as far .. so you have two lit lines down each side instead of a nice glow under the car ..

If I do go that route I'll get them hidden in the skirts etc so you can see them at all .. then all you Neon Nazi's (heh heh) can not see them and look away when I turn them on

I think I've moved away from the subtle street racer look already - with the kit, rims & decals etc ..

normal ones dont last as long tho............

aye neons especially blue ones die after about a year, seen it happen time and again

I say BLUE Iv'e often thought about it as welll....but I'd go red as my car is red, but ONLY if they can be hidden away, nothing worse than seeing a long neon tube sticking out under a car. However I reakon it would be much cooler if you went with STROBES!! Iv'e seen this only once on a car.....rolled up to a dark area and then bam......about 6 white strobes start flicking away under this car, was really cool. Again they were hidden underneth but was most definitly awesome.

Just look at the ICELED video and pictures, I would say that they provide an excellent glow under the car and throw the light far enough out to make some really cool effects and animations.

yeah trust me mate you dont wanna get the old style neons, they really will just fall apart and/or stop working soon no matter how well ya affix them to the underbody! I be gettin led blues eventually, definately not neons!

if you prefer neon and are colour coding with blue

then blue neons is ya best bet!

although.....LEDs are much better and last alot longer.

i can get hold of some computer controlled ones aswell if thats of any interest

Strobes are quite cool I put about 8 on the shock car, two in the air scoops, front indicators, engine cover, actually 6, i cant count, but they would look neat underneath, never thought of that the *cough* max power branded ones actually work really well, very bright

i used to be a member of GTI international (VW) and have owned endless golfs and seat ibiza's (a cheaper BUT better version of a mk3 golf!!). I personally think neons look wicked BUT only on the wright car + colour - big fan of black cars, green callipers and green neons, + i think the neons should be the same colour of the brake calliper if you can see them that is.
Anyway, i posted practically the same thread on GTI international and ohh my god did i get tortured!!!!! The thing is, when done your car will look mint and defo turn heads. Do it mate!!!

iev got white footwell neons installed in my 2, they look great and not the usual blue colour. by the way, blues the only colour neons that are illegal as its police colour etc. and aslong as ppl cant see the actual bulb all other colours are road legal
