Being 19, im pretty much screwed when it comes to insuring a turbo, either company's won't insure, or I refuse to pay 3k+ premiums.
So im currently after an NA (GTi-16, rev 3) - i've read all about unichips etc. My question is though, if I do it up how I want to, by the time I reach 20/21, turbos won't seem so unrealistic anymore - If I have a decent motor, then I might just add a turbo kit - okay questions:
-Anyone done this before?
-Will the premiums sky rocket in comparison with a regular mr2 turbo?
-Anyone got any links where I can read up on different turbo kits, or is there just a standard one specifically for an MR2?

you can add a turbo to your N/A.... but the cheaper option is to just buy a turbo as the insurance will be cheaper...
i get my uk gti back on tuesday with a turbo engine. insurance is going from £550 full comp CSDP to £1300 fully comp SDP.
Basically i was told it moves the car to group 20, 99% companies will not provide cover untill i'm 28, i'm 27 now Highway will cover me for the £1300. But i was told by many companies that at 28 years old you can go to 'specialist' companies aimed at the more mature sort that has modded exotica, through them and if i phone back then it'll drop back down to about £600 a year.
