[attachmentid=1060]Hello everyone,
I am reluctantly selling our Sera. We run 2 other cars and cannot afford to keep a third one on the road.
The car is a 1990 wine red manual Sera. Mileometer is currently reading in KM but I have kept track of the cars mileage and the actual miles covered is 66000. Taxed and MOT'd til July 2005.
I am an ex mechanic and have kept the car fully serviced and looked after. I have just fitted new front and rear brake pads and shoes, inner and outer rear wheel bearings and a new motor for the passenger side window. The car had a new timing belt 2 1/2 years ago and has only covered 18000 miles since then. It had new inner and outer drive shaft boots 18ish months ago and has a stainless centre and rear exhaust. There are 2 probs with the car 1. The aircon appears to require a recharge. There is still pressure in the system but not enough to make it run. and there is a water leak when it rains which allows water into the passenger footwell. This has not caused any problems because the car is extremely well sealed inside. I have not had the time to locate the cause. It runs and starts very well and is using no oil, in fact the oil is still amber in colour. It was changed in August. The car has not been on the road since October and is sitting in my neighbours driveway uninsured. The reason for my urgency in trying to sell it is that because it only gets a run up and down the driveway a couple of times a week it is becoming affected by damp due to the brilliant Scottish climate and I note that the seats are becoming marked because of this. This is a very good car which we have owned since it was imported in 2000 and has been used as a daily driver since then. We wil be sad to see it go but I am even sadder to see it deteriorating through lack of use.
Price is £1600 ono.
Hope someone out there is interested.

Dougie (I'm guessing its you)

I reckon the water ingress is down to either two things.

Split heater matrix. If the dampness in the footwell is sweet, this is likely to be coolant and you can taste antifreeze.

or

a/c is blocked. The A/C removes water from the air, and this water has to go somewhere. If the normal drainage channel is blocked, the water has to go somewhere, and that normally overflows into the car.

The latter should be an easy fix...

Andrew,
Yes its me.
Ive checked both the heater matrix. I'm not losing any coolant and the water is not sweet. I've also checked the aircon overflow etc and its not leaking or blocked. I only have water ingress when it rains or when I wash the car. I have checked round the windscreen but it all looks properly sealed so I'm guessing a blocked drainage hole or something similar.
Thanks.

Have you tried sitting in the car whilst somebody with a hosepipe / watering can / weak bladder simulates rain?

Does your car have the rubber strips along the bottom of the doors?

No sold it to a young fellow who drove up from Nottingham area. He seemed v happy with the car and I think he got a good buy.
My wife is gutted that her baby has gone though.
But, what can you do?
