Hi,
I have a 2002 Prado 3.4 V6 Auto, fully serviced with about 120K KMs. I have noticed recently a gear selection problem, where the gearbox will not change down gear under load (climbing on a hill etc). At reasonably high speed (in overdrive) it will remain in gear, until (eventually) changing down to 2nd gear. If I then apply power, the 'box will change thru 3,4 and into O/D very quickly- the problem then repeats itself. If in o/d the 'box will not change down with the accelerator pedal pushed firmly and quickly to the floor. (no kick-down).
I can make the 'box change down by forcing a gearchange with the level (into 2nd), and normal power is delivered.
Any ideas, simple fix - or do I need to invest in Toyota service?
Cheers

Hi,It's an electronic controled box.It sounds as if the solonoids are not working properly. If you have
recently had any work done check for any earth lead not connected properlyAlso you can change the fluid.
You will also here some buzzing sounds from the tranny. If it's buzzing at random-not with the gearchange,i think the problem might be with the electronics.

You will need to get the fault code from the OBD, see here how to do it. http://www.auto-diagnostic-codes.com/plugi...TRANS-16-4.html
