will be looking at prius tbh because of the rising petrol costs and driving to Jess' is hammering my petrol!

The petrol engine and electric motor work together for normal motoring. If you are in a traffic jam or slow speeds it automatically switches to electric. the batteries are charged from the petrol engine and the kinetic energy used in braking. The change from electric to petrol is so smooth you do not notice it. You can select to run on electric alone but you have to be careful not to flatten the batteries if you run in this way for some miles. The system works well you can see what engine is producing the power and driving the wheels as this is shown on the display screen. The display screen has many display functions though.
I think it is a great car. I cannot believe what some of the so called experts have reported. Some say it lacks acceleration but 0 to 60 in 10 secs is fast enough for me and on hill climbs it is better than my previous Avensis.
Have a test drive and if you buy one I will be amazed if you regret the purchase. Expect around 45 to 50 MPG. I am told this improves in warmer weather.

cheers dude. Only being 22 I am gunna wait a year or two for my insurance to go down but I really think it will make sense. I ordered the brochure from Toyota but don't really wanna book a test drive or go to the dealer/look around for one cause it won't be for a bit. Has anyone near me got one they can let us have a go in? lol

Not too sure but I think the batteries have an 8 year warranty

but what happens at the end of the 8 years? lol what is the insurance like on these?
