The front outer CV joints on my 53 plate NHW20 are starting to give the classic signs of wear at 41K miles (clicking noises on tight turns etc), I have some experience of rebuilding CV joints (albeit some years ago!) so I know potentially it's a fairly simple job to do. Does anyone out there have any direct experience of the Prius CV joints, if the joints are common to other models, where to obtain rebuild kits, any specific issues to look out for etc.... I reckon that if I tackle the problem before the wear gets any worse I maybe able to rectify the problem at reasonable cost and without expensive regrinding of the actual joints themselves.
I read somewhere that someone was quoted in excess of £1000 by a dealer for rectification so I feel it's an option worth exploring...
