I hope Iam not becomming boring but the Rear handbrake on the Celica gen 6 is a bit of a sambles, or is it just me, but which ever motor fitter I speak to they say nothing about my back hand brake system. But at the moment I have removed the back wheel and poked my screwdiver in the small adjusting hole and given the adjustment screw two clicks. After driving about 60 miles in short trips, with my rear handbrake drum heating up on every run and the whole shoe assembly hitting the spinning drum while driving down bumpy inclines as if there is something like a spanner loose in the brake drum, things are improving the overheating is going and the knocking is going not a lot but it is going. So this W/E wheel off again and two more clicks on the adjuster, it is as if you have to make the brake shoes fit the drum by adjustment and wear them in, in the process at first because of underadjustment the shoes are loose and knock about as if they hang from the pivot pin, but if you overadjust the wheel would overheat. I know it would be simple to take it to a toyota dealer but being retired I don't think I could get a mortgage. Has anyone out there had hand brake troubles with Gen6 Celica?
