Me Dealer Taking The P***?

Here's the story so far.............

As some of you know, had my car lowered and put some 17's on the other week. The tracking was really messed up (no suprise!). Took it to a few places (Kwik-Fit, ATS) etc. said they couldn't track it because it was too low etc etc......In the end booked it in at my local Toyota dealer to do a four wheel alignment.

Went to collect car. All seemed fine apart from the airbag warning light didn't go out after a few seconds when turning the ignition on. Went straight back into the dealer, they had a look at it and said that I'd need to book it in for diognostics. Fair enough.

Collected the car today and they think it's a fault with either the ECU or the spiral cable or both. If it's both then I'm looking at £500 to fix :wacko:

When I asked what had caused the fault they said that it was totally coincidental it had happened when it did!

Think I'm going to get a second opinion on this from another garage.

Has anyone else had this problem. I need to get it fixed or it'll fail it's MOT!!!

Chances are that they have removed your steering wheel & snapped your spiral cable when turning the front wheels manually!!

Insist they foot the bill as it was OK when you dropped it off. Don't let them fob you off!

Took it to another garage, same faults came up as Toyota picked up, as well as a new one. One of the pretensioners aswell! :o

Rang Toyota, they insist that the steering wheel was not removed and this is actually an unpublished fault on the Corolla which is not covered by any extended warranties etc etc.

Looks like another expensive month. :crybaby:

Firstly,

Disconnect your Battery by removing the NEGATIVE lead from the Battery.

Now, check the plugs on each of the seat-belt units by removing, checking/cleaning the contacts and replace.

Re-connect the Battery NEGATIVE lead.

Now follow these instructions to reset the air-bag light;

Go under the hood and open the diagnostic cap located on the passenger-side near the battery. Look for AB & TC. Make two plugs with wire to fit into these connectors. With the ignition key turned to the ON position alternate the two wires to the negative terminal of the battery. They need to be done in a consistent rhythm, about one second apart. TC,AB,TC,AB,TC,AB... This needs to be done several times. If you can't get it to work, try adjusting the speed. It is helpful to have someone look at the airbag light while performing this to let you know when the light goes out/blink.

Stuff Toyota - the dealers really do rip you off every time and they dont have a clue.
