Gen 6 Import - A Few Problems - Fix Or Scrap?

Hi all,

I've got a 6th Gen Celica import. I bought it for £250, spent about £1200 on repairs and yet, the trouble continues.

Problem 1. The engine stutters and spits really bad for the first 5-10 minutes when you start it up in the morning (or afternoon).

Problem 2. The steering column and most of the car shakes violently when you press the breaks at any speed over 35MPH. I had the pads and discs replaced less that 12 months ago.

Problem 3. There is a semi-major oil leak and a leak in the radiator.

Problem 4. I had a reconditioned gearbox and brand new clutch kit installed 3 months ago, and although it does work, gear changes are REALLY rough.

The mileage is about 150,000 in miles and the bodywork is far from good.

My question is really, should I continue to throw money at this car or should I call it a day?

I really respect the opinions of you guys and would appreciate any advice you could give.

Thanks :)

Dear god, let the thing go dude!

For a car that owes you £1450 i seriously wouldnt wasnt any more time and money on it.

Stick it on eBay, £1 to start and you should get £500 at least for it.

Was it an accident damaged car?

Sounds like the engine/gearbox is knack'd, the Map sensor is dodgy and the brakes.....i personally wouldnt ever drive a car that violently shakes brakes above 35.

Your better off cutting your losses.
