Hello TOC.

I used to own a 1991 Carina 2 xl 1.6, it was written of by a lazy taxi driver some years ago now :(

I'd given up the ghost on that gunmetal grey, well built car. Years passed, rover 600, volvo 460, modeo(detritus )...Then, last week i was browsing through the autotrader online, when a sight took me. It wasn't my old car, but i always said if a good example of a carina 2 comes up i'm having it. Never been quick enough in the past, i've lost out on some gems. So, there was this 1990(h) carina II 1.6 gl special edition 25th aniversary, in a platinum grey kind of colour. The best bit was the milage, only 44,000...wow, nearly 20 years old and only about 25 miles a week have been put on it. One elderly owner from new. Admittedly, there are a few scrapes on the bumpers, the old guy was well into his 80's, its a shame, i'd like to take them off and straighten the brackets so they meet up properly with the side trim. Other than that the paintwork is a1, the door seals are like new still as the car had been kept in a garage every day until it was used to go to the supermarket, bless.

I look forward to contributing to the forums now i am once again a toyota owner.
