Automatic Retractable Mirrors With Keyless-entry?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help with this one?

I'd like the mirrors to retract automaticly when the iQ locks, because now, with keyless entry, I'm not always sure if the car is locked or not. When you want to check if it is locked, it opens again, because the keys are nearby. I know Sally posted a trick about wing-mirrors, but that is no solution for my wish.

Before we had a Peugeot 207 and with that car the mirrors retracted when you closed the car. It shouldn't be so difficult to make something for this purpose.

Does anyone have an electrical scheme for the iQ?

There is a red 'padlock' light that shows on the dashboard. I just check through the window.

Great idea. I usually drive with my doors locked so would need to open them again before driving.

A thumping great diode or two between door locking mechanism and mirror switch should do it - Ill just check my insurance for fire cover

not a perfect solution but i found if you dont touch the back of the handle (grip top and bottom of handle without putting you fingers fully around) it does not operate the locks and you can pull it and check it. Its only the sensor on the back that makes them unlock. Also, you get a red padlockand car picture on the dash light up after you lock it to show the car is locked and when it flashes, the alarm is set.

I too wish they folded when you turn the car off!

Or you could always use the button on the key.

That cannot be the meaning of "keyless entry"

Lol, you must have the key with you (in your pocket) to enter or start the car.

I must admit I use the padlock sign also as sometimes cannot remember if I locked her or not.

If you lock it then give the handle a quick pull because for a couple of seconds after locking, it wont let you open the door again, thats what i do

I prefer the either/or option myself, the way it is, press a little button - no biggie ;)

So do I, imagine you're just in a small street and crossing a bus or a huge car... you just presse the button and you're sure you will save your Mirrors.

OR... imagine you're a secret agent and you need to hide and look bahind thanks to the mirrors, if they retract automatically you can't !!!

Of course, the manual option must stay in place.

by the way, has anyone here experience with "Justask" as advertised on the bottom of this page?

Ruud.
