Too Many Badges?

I was passed the other day by a Netherlands-registered Verso. Can't tell you what model it was, because its tailgate bore only the oval T emblem and small badges below reading 'TOYOTA' and 'VERSO'. By contrast, the back of my UK model, which also has 'COROLLA', 'T3' and 'D-4D', all in different typefaces, looks a bit of a mess.

Other manufacturers are gradually doing away with engine and model badges; Toyota, at least in the UK, seems not to have got the message. Would anyone else prefer a cleaner rear end?

Take 'em off then ! A hairdryer & some dental floss usually does the trick.

I personally prefer as few badges as possible. However at least things have improved; In the late 80's to early 90's I remember Cavaliers with 'Vauxhall / Cavalier / 16V / 4X4 / ABS' and maybe more all stuck on the back.

I was behind a Fiat Stilo this morning, it had 6 SPEED, and some blokes name under that.

As far as I know the Dutch Verso’s also have all the badges. My 2007 had “TOYOTA”, “Corolla” and “Verso” all stuck on the back when I bought it. It did not have “VVT-i” but I notice the diesels do have “D4-D”. The dealer told me that they often remove the “Corolla” because since the end of 2006 the Corolla name has been dropped.

But like you I think it’s a mess so I removed the lot!

They are only stuck on, there are no fixing holes. Warm them up with a hairdryer, then with some cotton (or dental floss) behind the Badge just “saw” them off, clean the residue with white spirit followed by T-cut, and you done. Looks much better and is easier to keep clean!

While I was at it I did the same to my Yaris it now also looks much better.

Regards, Andy
