Lucida Power Problems

hi folks, im having some problems with my new lucida emina (1994 2.2 td with the electronic fuel pump)

when it is running the engine sounds like an old transit van all the time wether it is hot or cold (very tappety) the van seems to run fine around the streets but is very slow on the motorway (70mph max) . i have an engine management light on that gave back code 14, i changed the fuel filter and that made no difference. my turbo actuator diaphragm was split so i replaced that and again no difference. i have herd about a cold start sensor on the fuel pump but i cant find much info on it. hope you can help.

thanks,

Could well be that the engine has overheated severely in the past and what you are hearing now is piston slap. However if it is the 3C-TE engine check if the noise is coming from the vacuum pump at the top of the rocker cover.
