De-cat For 1998 Gt

Hi

I am wondering if a de-cat is beneficial to my 1998 GT Celica? Is the O2 sensor before the Cat or after and will it cause any problems if I gut my cat (but retain for MOT)? Will the engine "Check Light" show up? Will it make any difference in power, acceleration and fuel? Where would I go to purchase one or is it best just to take to an exhaust centre and have them make one up?

My car is approaching 150K on the clock. What should I be looking at changing other than just the normal such as air filter, plugs etc?

Also has anyone had any problems with the fuel filter? It appears to be a right pain to change, even though would appear simple as I am afraid of ripping the fuel pipe beneath.

Thanks in advance.
