My Aygo is now 16 months old & just over 10K miles. Just noticed that the coolant level is about half way between the H & L.

Do I need to top this up immediately & do I need to use the genuine Toyota super long life coolant. Is this something that is covered in the 2nd year service anyway. Any help will be appreciated.

You should check the water pump to see if there is any traces of coolanton it ( a pink haze), as the drop in level could indicate that your water pump is on the way out. In a properly sealed cooling system, the level shouldn't really drop. There has been a issue with premature failure of Aygo water pumps so better to get checked out.

Radiators on Aygo's have been known to leak too, so take it to Mr T, something is amiss with the pump or radiator I would say.

I think they are quite used to dealing with the problem.

If the level is in between the two marks, it's OK. You only need to worry when the level is above or below the indicated levels.

Reason there's two levels has to do with the expansion of the coolant when it heats up and cools back down.

Just have a look at the level with a cold engine (in the morning), go for a drive and get the engine nice and

warm, then look at the level again. It 'll be a lot higher, since the coolant has expanded from heating up.

Now let the car sit for a couple of hours and check again; it'll be at roughly the same level as on the first check...

Sorry, I should have been more specific in my feedback. I meant to say when checking the coolat level with the engine cold each time to be consistent. If you check the coolant level with the engine cold each time and you notice a drop in the coolant level over time, then get it checked out.
