How does it drive for you guys, coause there seems to be a delay on mine. For instance when pulling out from a junction, it delays a bit themn kicks in. Also slow through changing gears.... is this normal or do I need it looking at?

Cheers guys.

normal within reason. shouldn't be too slow changing but it does get confused unless you are very positive with the throttle. worst is when you are dribbling along at say 20mph, it is crap. best advice i can give is feather the throttle a little, so when you slow down don't just take your foot off the gas altogether, and when at junctions accelerate a tad so it is just ut to get going. if you boot it sometimes it just seems to dither and then 0.5secs later woosh...although it can be scary sometimes. stick with. i prefer changing in manual mode to be honest.

it will hunt to get into the highest gear possible asap. that's why you need to be a little less on/off with it. give it a week or two, you'll get used to it - remember it is a manual really with no clutch rather than a 'proper' auto.

Auto is far too slow for anything, I always use manual to change up and let it automatically change down unless I am thrashing it, this works really well.

So can I switch between manual and auto whilst the car is moving? was too scared to try incase i knackered it! If thats the case, do you guys switch it back to auto when coming to a stop and keep it in manual all other times?

Tend to keep mine in manual 95% of the time.

Only tend to have it in auto when stuck in traffic and from a stationary position. as soon as moving reasonably will move it into Manual mode.

Leave it in manual mode when pulling to a halt.

yes you can! remember it isn't a real auto. the mmt is a normal gearbox but with actuators to do the clutch for you.

So in theory you're getting the advantages of both regarding ease of use and economy.

Btw, on my first tank, my first blob disappeared after 110 miles....not sure if that's good or not...

I see my comment about it automatically letting it go down the box was confusing, I don't move over to auto, in manual it will change down quite well if you leave it alone, you can also manually change down but sometimes you then go down 2 gears as you change just after it decides to. On upshift you have to change or it will not do it for you, which is fine.

cheers for the reponses guys, gonna go out n try it in manual... was totally unaware you could put it in manual and it will change the gears down automatically when coming to a stop, I though you had to change down yourself which put me off. Great news, should make the driving even more fun, cheers again!!!!

I think I had similar behavior. When pressing accelerator revs are going up sometimes to 3000 and then clutch on and car jump ahead. At local Toyota service they said clutch has too big gap (not sure about english terms) and tuned it. Now car is switching gears more smoothly and I feel almost no delay.
