Wow - looks lovely. Congrats. Nice plate too. That's one way of avoiding the whole 09/59 plate issue for now.

Yes congrats and health to drive . Ours is up to 48mpg now having done 130 miles and mpg reading constantly creeping up , one thing we are concerned about though is the first 3 bars of the fuel gauge have dropped with only 130 miles done , on mums Prius 2 she could do about 120 miles before the fuel guage drops 1 bar , anyone else noticed this?

Thanks, I've had that plate since 2001 when I bought it for my BMW X5 Diesel Sport.

Now, a few pics of the engine compartment.

Funny, BMW X5 to a Prius. It's the same car journey my neighbour did also. It does happen.

It's more bizarre than that :)

1999 Porsche 911 Carrera 2

2001 BMW X5 Diesel Sport

2004 Prius T4

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 (6.1 Litre V8 Petrol)

So, yesterday went from 420 BHP, 0-60 mph in 5 seconds and 14.7 mpg on Super Unleaded to my new T Spirit.

No regrets at all, I have enjoyed all my cars.

However, I think I will have to be a bit careful when assessing gaps for overtaking from now on.

My first car in London was a Porsche 928 S4. One of the reasons for me getting a Prius was that I miss an Auto box in London traffic. I won't miss the 8-12 mpg in inner London traffic though!

I can see why you sold the SRT , I test drove one when they first came out , awsome car but under 10 mpg when driven hard , I was driving an 06 M3 Cabrio at the time which are pretty good on fuel given the performance they average around 24mpg(the E46 shape 3.2) , changed in 07 to a 330d E91 Cabrio which I still have , it does over 40 MPG on a run low 30's in town , its auto with folding hard top and a dream to drive, I love it to bits , the Prius is my wifes but im quite happy to drive it when I can prize the keys off her ;) , its a superb car to drive and much improved on the previous model which my parents own(also a really good car) , I think Toyota have tried to make the car appeal to the masses this time and not just the environment concious folk and they have done a brilliant job , I think you will see alot of sales reps etc in the new Prius because of the tax benefits and alot of traditional car drivers moving towards hybrid for the mpg benefits. I also think we will see alot more hybrid cars from other manufacturers and a bigger range from Toyota over the next 2-3 years.

Which model?

Yes March 2010 on a '10' plate ..... My A3 will be 3 years old then, so that is when I will be changing. Obviousley I will need to work backwards from that date to get the order time correct :)

I am going for T-Spirit, possibly with the Technology Pack if the price of the pack is good value. :)

Still undecided on Tyrol Silver or White Pearl

When does the VAT rate go back to 17.5% from 15%?

If it is going back up at all in the present economic situation.

Worth checking it out as I believe it to be around 30 Dec 09. 2.5% is a significant extra amount to give to the taxman.

Given the yawning gap between the Government revenues and expenditure they have to raise taxes and soon. Cuts will not be enough. And lest we forget there will be a General Election within 10 months, which may see a change of Government and attitude to public debt.

My uneducated guess is that even if the current Govt decide to freeze VAT in the run-up to the election it will be as a political stunt. If, as seems likely at the moment, we DO see a change (I make no forecast, nor should my own preference be guessed at, this is no place for party politics) then there will probably be an emergency budget very swiftly, with slashing cuts and tax rises to balance the books.

Oh, I forgot my manners. I'm a newbie around here and this was my first post. Not quite the topic I'd have preferred for a starter, but there you have it. You play them as they're dealt.

Martswain; handsome isn't it?
