Strange Noise On T180

Hi all my t180 started to make a whistling noise. It may be normal and i've not heard it before.

Its not from the engine bay so its not a slipping belt or pully noise. It seems to be coming from the centre of the car.

The exhaust from what i can tell is not blowing. The noise also cuts in and out and its only there when hot, say after a long drive or quick blast. Its not the air con has thats turned off. So what i'm wondering is does the d-cat system make a whistling type of noise when its active which would explain why the noise is only intermitent. The car goes in for service on 1st of september so i'll mention it then, just wanted to know if its somthing simple someting serious or just normal.

The noise can only be heard from outside of the car.

The car is a 06/56 done 31k full toyota history and i've owned it for 18months and done 30k in it so i would of tought i'd of heard this noise before.

Thanks in advance

Mine has a noise like a siren - but softer - when I start in the morning. I think it's the turbo. Could that be it?

I did think that myself, nothing seems different in ways of performance, mpg, etc. I'll ask when it goes in for service on the 1st of next month if they notice anything.

Well i did agree with thinking turbo noise till this morning when i was unloading the car i left it ticking over cos i was nipping back out in it after i unloaded the boot. Has i was unloading i heard the noise and it was off the exhaust, so i got a towel put it round the exhaust pipe held the pipe to stop it vibrating and the noise stopped let go and it started. So the exhaust system is rubbing or catching summat and its not the heat sheld. So all it could be is maybe a rubber exhaust mount cos its a metal catching rubber type noise. High pitched whistle or squeel type of sound.

So its deffo not turbo, not engine. Not a blowing exhaust but a rubbing exhaust. I have not bottomed out the car, my dad has been using the car the other week and says he aint hit nothing cos the noise started after he had it.

Thanks in advance
