Engine Soundproofing On Tr 1.33 Vvt-i

Hi Guys and Gals, it's me again.

Had my new Auris for 2 weeks now. It looks beautiful in Venetian silver, and drives very well except for shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.

I guess it must be me! I think I will eventually get used to it. Any way, what I want to know is this.When I lifted the hood I noticed there was no soundproofing on the underside of the hood. It has all the holes to fix it to, so I thought they had forgotten to fit it.So I got in touch with the dealer who checked every car in the showroom, and guess what, they all had them.He then told me he would order one and fit it in my car.That was 5 days ago.When I phoned him this morning, he told me that he got onto Toyota and they told him that the 1.33 engine was the only one that didn't have the soundproofing. Now I find that very hard to believe.So if there is anyone out there with a 2009 auris 1.33vvt-i TR, please have a look under your hood and let me know if there is soundproofing or not.

I have a 1.33 Auris too and there is no soundproofing on the hood. Instead the plastic cover of your engine works as soundproof. The 1.6 Auris has on the hood and the older 1.4.

If its not too expensive, buy one from Toyota and fit it yourself. I believe the 1.33 is a very quiet engine to start with, but a bit of extra sound proofing wouldn’t do any harm.

I believe the Yaris (with the same engine) does have sound proofing fitted.

Thanks for answering my question "TakumiGR", now that I know for sure it doesn't have soundproofing I don't have to chase the dealer to fit one. It's just that I felt that I was missing a part.I might take "reece"'s advice and fit one anyway if I can find one.

This is quite common across the range whereby one model has it fitted and not on another, I'm asked the same question quite often, there will be a reason, heat dissapation or some such similar reason
