Iv only been driving 8 months and learnt in a diesel i found very easy to drive. I drive a petrol clio which i hateeee, has a really heavy clutch and stupidly high biting point. These are the only 2 cars i have ever driven.

Was just wondering is the T sport and easy to use clutch and good drive? Iv read reviews on it and they all seem good.

Thanks.

Hi Tone and welcome....

We're not far from you, in Lytham, so nice to see someone local on the forum...

I'd like to say yes - its a good cluch and easy to drive - but its really down to personal taste, as you have found in the Clio, so I think you really need to try one (or two) and see what you think yourself.

All I'd say is that my wife has a gammy left leg and used to have an automatic, but we got a manual Yaris in 2000 because our two kids were going to learn to drive whilst we had the car - and the clutch caused her no trouble.

Not only that, bu tthe kids had no trouble learning to drive and use the clutch - and on top of that, when we got rid of the old Yaris, my wife bought a new manual Yaris to replace it and my daughter went out and bought a Yaris too because she was so happy with it...

Go and try one and see what you think - but there are slight variations, from car to car, so if you're not happy with the first one you try, don't give up on the Yaris completely......

I can't speak for the T Sport itself - we had a 1.0CDX originally and there was nothing wrong with that.

We've got two 2008 SRs now with 16" wheels and lowered and stiffened suspension and I can say that those are a really good drive!

So much so, that I have more fun driving those and "chucking them around" than I do in my own Audi A3 S-Line, which only comes out of the garage for long motorway journeys......

As no-one has yet replied from a T-sport veiw, I can offer a small Yaris insight...

The clutches are reasonable, neither heavy or light(?) The biting point is around halfway with not too much travel. Students of mine have favoured them over Peugeot's, for example.

The cars' on the whole, are easy to drive. (I have a 1.3 auto and a 1L manual so have tried different types) They do need a bit of revving, at least in the smaller engine, to get the best from them. Low spec models will have remote non electric mirrors, no hight adjustment on the drivers seat and no air-con but I think this is no prob on a T-sport as it is an all singing, all dancing version

The veiw to the front/sides is reasonable but the rear window is small, compared to a Clio, at least, a 97 one, as my daughter has one! the T-sport will give you a bit more power as it is a 1.5l, but if you are a young new driver, this may cost a bit to insure! Ther is a quite hard to find five door T-sport, if that interests you, I think it came out with the facelift version in around 03! They also have standard analogue speedo's, where the other types of Yaris have digiat hologram style ones (Pity)! There is a slightly sportier 1.3 Yaris, with boot spoiler, skirts and special alloy, which may be a cheaper option, they only come in the 3 door format! Think they are badged as SR(?)

Hope this helps a little. B)

Oh, by the way, although Toyota's are famous for reliability, the T-sport, by it's own nature, has probably had a hard life so take care as early ones are now most likely to be needing replacement of parts, left and right! look around and get a low mileage, low owner one and you shouldn't have too many problems.

Hey thanks for the advice!

Theres one pretty close im going to go look at tomorrow. The only thing is that its a Cat D repair but with all paperwork and it is at an actual car dealer. It only has 40,000 miles (2003 model) and its up for £2600 which is preety cheap. Only find out once iv actually gone and had a look though.

Personally i would keep away from cat Ds but thats personal preference...

In terms of yaris tho - i found them very easy to drive, and very nice to drive.

clutch is fine - only car i've driven which was lighter is the new ford fiesta - its clutch really is light!

clutch's i hate are those in pugs 106...and corsa's are generally crap (get it, generally > general motors!)

Oh dear

Matt

Is that a red one in Blackburn? I bet it is. Someone I know went to look at it and got back in his car and drove off again. Apparently a pile of ****
