T-reg Yaris - A Couple Of Odd Noises....

Hi all,

I've noticed a couple of strange noises from my T-reg Yaris vvT recently.

The first one i noticed was a squeak which seems to be coming from the drivers front wheel. It's the kind of noise you hear when your brake pads are worn and you pull to a stop, a high-pitched note. However it happens when driving along normally, if i dab the brakes it actually stops momentarily.

I've had suggestions of wheel bearings and stuck calipers, but thought I'd consult your expert advice!

The second noise is a whirring/whining noise from the engine when idling. If i raise the revs in neutral the noise stops, but its constantly there on idle, whether the engine is hot or cold. I've no idea what this could be but always fear the worst (timing belt... eek?!) so wondered if anyone had encountered this noise in the past?

Thanks everyone

Adam

Sounds like:

worn brake pads, stone stuck between disk and pad, stuck caliper/.

Worth looking at asap as if it is wear disk could be scored = new disks.

No timimg belt: it's a CHAIN:-)

Sounds like: idler pulley on auxiliary drive belt or worn belt or worn bearing on power steering pump.. or belt fryed and catching.

Suggest immediate check as if it fails, no power steering ..

If you bought car from a garage, take it to them to fix it under Sale of goods Act...
