They put you in contact with the main supplying dealer and they take over from there.

I see its gone down to 5% this afternoon :(

How it worked for me was there dealer who they work with will phone you tell them what model you want and tell them you have a trade in they will give you the price !!

With myself the trade in was just under 3 years old and I knew what the car was selling for and the price they offered was the same as the local dealer.

but its a bit of a pain its gone down to 5% makes it less attractive and maybe the savings would not be worth not using the local dealerships at 10% it maybe would be

They called me back yesterday and apologised for the delay. Apparantly the dealers had 'sold out' of the 10% offers and had gone back to 5% but Carfile had been trying to renegotiate a better deal. Eventually they managed to get 6% discount on the next 2 or 3 cars.

They also gave me a part ex quote which was a little disappointing. I am hoping to get to my local dealers today or tomorrow to compare their deals.

Try using: https://www.webuyanycar.com/ for part-exchange. I had a quote just to find out how much my car is worth at present and it is more than what I expected/more than what it is showing in Parker's Car Price Guide. They charge a £49.99 fee if you decide to go ahead.

I tried the webuy website for both my Prius and my wifes Yaris and they did come up with good prices. However I am a bit wary about the next step which is to take the car along for a viewing and I suspect the real offer may turn out to be less than the price quoted (which is only a guide). However I may pursue it with the Yaris just to see how it turns out.

As for the Prius, after a 90 minute session with the salesman at my local dealer I managed to each a reasonable deal and have placed my order for the new Prius and part ex'd the old one.

Interestingly there were no new Prius's in the showroom, but they did have an old model T spirit on display which had no price displayed. The salesman told me they were now clearing out the last couple of old models and looking at a £2k discount.
