unburnt fuel dumped into a hot exhaust - you'll usually see this on forced induction race/rally tuned cars.

T sport with a high flow manifold and a decat and short mid silencer will spit a flame or two while pushing the car hard, on high revving gear changes.

Dont expect silly flames though!

You can actually buy a flamer kit; but a word to the wise, they are of course illegal. If you are familliar with motorbikes you'll know all bikes have a cut out switch on the right bar, if you flick the ignition off for a few seconds this forces unburnt fuel through the exhaust, then when the unburnt fuel hits the hot exhaust manifold it'll ignite the unburnt fuel and you'll get flames and a loud pop. Another cautionary note is that if you still have the Catalytic converter inline you screw it up as any unburnt fuel will ruin it and you'll be left with a costly replacement. In truth it's all just a big waste of time and its all show and no go! Now on the other hand; if you hard tune the engine and go for a 4:1 straight 2.5" SS straight thu' exhaust and it spits and crackles on the over-run then that is the real deal!

could you put a bit of petrol in to the exhaust

At £5 a gallon the petrol stays in the tank!

Get some stick on flame transfers instead, it’s a Yaris not a hot rod machine, its not cool and you will probably injure yourself or blow your car up!
