Hi

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I am in the market for a used RAV4 and have been put off buying a pre 06 diesel due to the alarming DMF problems. Can anyone tell me if the 06 onwards diesels are free from this (or any other) major problem?

Many thanks

I've had my T180 from new and it's just 3 years old now. Apart from the EGR valve, steering column joint (both warranty) and expensive tires, I have bitten the bullet and signed up for an extended warranty for another 2 years......I still love the car.

Nothing has come to light on these yet... they do have them fitted but it's a different engine to the ones that where going bang.......

Apart from what's been mentioned, also look out for the Water Pump as well.....this looks like another expensive repair...parts are cheep, fixing it aint...

We are not aware of any dmf problems and there are some issues that pop up (yet to be fully quantified) but I think that most owners are fairly satisfied.

DMF's arent a problem up until around the 50k-60k mark,so unless someone has a newer model thats done well over 60k and has no DMF probs we wont know but in my experience any DMF's give problems,in fact no I tell a lie,the only ones that dont seem to be a problem are VW's

As someone with zero technical knowledge is it correct that autos do not have DMf's?

Therefore the new auto diesel will not suffer from this?

Correct.

There is no DMF in the new auto gearbox/150 diesel RAV.

The price difference between the manual and auto diesels is £2500

For that you could buy a spare DMF
