Instrument Cluster Illumination

I just installed a Paseo instrument cluster into my 1996 Tercel. It was totaly plug and play. I live having a tachometer! The grey gauge faces look sweet. However, I find that the lighting for the temperature guage/needle are a bit dim compared to the rest of the guages. I took the bulb out top confirm that it works and it does (small twist off bulb with green condom thing on it). Without the bulb, the temp gauge stays dark. Has anyone with this instrument cluster had the same experience? Just want to be sure I'm not missing something. If that's the way it is, I can live with it. Thanks for any help.
