T180 Mpg Test

Curiously I have just had my worst tank ever.

33.05mpg

It has been dropping since October from around 40 MPG, I hope it is just the cold and not something wrong.

No mate this is how we have been for the last 6-8 weeks, I also think the wind is one of the main factors people seem to forget ;)

Even more curiously, I have just had a 42.98mpg tankful. Admittdly i have done lots of motorway miles in this tank.

Amazing what a difference it makes from a difference of driving conditions.

10mpg difference is huge.

I can safely say there is nothing wrong with my car, i was being a paranoid android.

I've had my T180 for about six months now and drive in all sorts of conditions, motorway, city, country lanes (brilliant!), and my mpg has never dropped below 40mpg no matter how I drive it. On a run I easily get 45mpg without trying too hard, and when I fancy a bit of fun and hammer it, it goes down to the 40 mark.

Even over the last few days of snow and ice driving around at 20 mph it returned 42mpg. (I always use Shells finest).

I must say though, at first I found the clatter around 1.8k to 2.1k to be horrible and actually took the car back to Toyota to have it checked out. Needless to say they said it was absolutely fine and had no faults!

I've owned a huge range of cars over the years including a mk1 Escort RS1600, an RS2000, a stupidly uprated Escort RS Turbo, (I used to love Fords!) and even a Verso shed on wheels. Of all of them this is the best all round car I've ever owned without doubt.

If I had to criticise it, it would have to be the rubbish front washer jet system, which sprays water at the wiper arms rather than the screen and stays frozen up on really cold days no matter how long I drive for. But mpg-wise I'm really happy with mine. :D

Just an update; I rang Mr T today and he wasn't too interested in changing the jets, so I decided as the existing ones were pretty crap to have a go and mod them. I reckoned I had nothing to loose as the jets needed replacing anyway and if I screwed them up I'd just order new ones from The King.

Worked a dream, a quick five minutes (four of which spent figuring out how to get 'em off!) and the water now hits mid screen, and 90+% of it misses the wiper arm.

Happy bunny! :D
