Advice Needed

:(

My pride and joy is sick . Have imported Celica 1993 GTR 4WS that needs new front shocks . My mechanic who is normally very reliable has been told that these are standard Toyota spares and will cost approx £95 - that's the good bit !

While waiting for estimate I emailed Japarts and they have come back with £462 each as these are specialist parts !!

Any body out there know who is right ?

He who must be obeyed has said that I should have mentioned that the suspension is electronically controlled

Does that make a difference ?

Your mechanic is almost certainly correct. You could buy a fully adjustable coilover strut/sprig for 462 quid!

Yes, but you shouldnt NEED coilovers, normal 50 quid Celica struts should fit straight on wether they be McPherson superstruts or Toyota standards.

Isn't that what I just said?

wether they be McPherson superstruts or Toyota standards.

btw a McPherson strut is a type of suspension configuration (not a manufacturer), which is the configuration used in this case. Superstruts are a development of the McPherson strut concept by Toyota. They were introduced on the Carina GTi and then used on the ST205 GT-Four, some Jap ST202 models and also I think on some of the generation 7 celicas (Jap ones only tho).
