Delivery Delay Of Yaris - T Spirit (uk)

Hello Everyone,

I have recently (31st July) booked a Toyota Yaris T Spirit MMT at Currie Motors Twickenham and this is my first post on this forum.

The delivery currently promised is for mid to late October 2009, reason being T Spirits are only made against order (thus Toyota Manufacturing waits for an assembly-line full of orders). The sales person seemed very interested in selling a TR and was promising a delivery between 3-8 weeks depending for colour.

However, when we didn't move away from the T-Spirit, he promised that the increase in price won't have any impact on us, even if the car gets registered past 30th September.

Just wanted to confirm if this is usual, or something I should double check.

Thanks.

With Regards,

-Vinay

The Yaris is made to order, if you have paid your deposit and settled on the price and have your invoice any increases while you wait won’t affect you.

The delivery dates vary, and what they say is also not always truth. I was told back in June that the delivery will take 11-12 weeks, (so... around first decade of September) than the dealer left us for a while, came back with some papers and told me it will be around 5 weeks (making impression 'we're lucky being served by such a magician') by the end it came up to be exactly 7 weeks, even though I strongly suspect the car was at the dealership since week 6, but didn't have time to check it.

They seem to have some interest in selling this or this model in this and this colour. If you stick with your choice, they try to show you how long you'll wait and omg don't even bother.

I might misjudge them, but am very skeptical about their tactics.

Hi Reece, Sico2,

Thanks for your responses. Yes I have an invoice in hand so changing price is not a worry.

I think I will keep pinging the salesman just in case what Sico2 mentioned is true in my case, because he was offering a better deal on TR than TSpirit.

Thanks again.

My wife bought her Yaris TR D4D last October. She had to wait about 7 or 8 weeks for that but was quoted 3 - 4 months for the T Spirit.

I was promised a T-Spirit Auris for 1st Sept, and now its delayed until at least the 15th. Not quite sure what toyota are playing at.

Im told the Yaris TR stock is trying to be sold off as there is a refreshed trim coming soon

I was tried and flogged a 2.0 diesel Auris over the 1.6 petrol I actually bought. Found out from a Toyota mechanic the next day its because they are desperate to get rid of the stock as there is a major known fault with the 2.0 diesel engine.

Never trust a salesman I guess!

I feel for everyone who has to wait for delivery after being told a different date, so annoying

They did the same to me. Delivery date end of July. 2 weeks before that, "oh no, 10th of August" What's that all about?! Anything before 7 weeks I wouldn't hope and believe what they say unless you buy what you see in the dealership.

Maybe there is coming a face lift or new trim, but they are much more expensive than they were 3-4 months ago.

  • 1 month later...

Hi,

I checked with the dealer today (24-Sep-09). According to him the car (Yaris T-Spirit) is still in manufacturing. He gave me an estimated date of "23-Oct-09". Earlier it was mid October.

My question is - Has any one got delivery (in UK) for a new T-Spirit (MMT 6 Speed)? Or, others are facing similar delays?

Thanks.

Guess it will be ready when it's ready...

When I ordered my 2008 SR I was originally told it would come 2nd week of September, eventually didn't show up until late october.

The dealership I ordered through was pretty poor though, once they had the deposit they didn't want to know! Phonecalls went unreturned, and kept getting told "it will be here next week" over and over again. Had massive periods of silence from them... only when I threatened to cancel the order did the car magically appear 2 hours later... funny that!

Thanks Shappers for sharing your experience. There are others on the forum who had to warn the dealers of canceling the order to get a delivery in time.

After 23rd October - I would be doing the same, although I seriously hope this doesn't happen at all... let's see...its been a long wait since 31st July.

  • 3 weeks later...

Finally got my car today - T Spirit MMT. Came with Paddle Shifts.

Some how, the color "Venetian Silver" didn't look as impressive as I had hoped (but definitely it won't look dirty easily), anyway took delivery and happy that it came in sooner rather than later.

Thanks to all.

So how many days exactly did you wait? Any mistakes in configuration or similar?

Jul 31st to Oct 19th ~ 80 days.

Configuration Couple of things:

1) I was expecting a USB/IPOD connection for the music system. (Only Aux In).

2) Came with flappy gear change paddles, haven't used it so far.

3) Following were not on the spec list and didn't even come with Yaris (however most mid/high-trim cars in India come standard with these)

> Emergency first-aid.

> Warning triangle.

> Spare Headlight bulbs.

> Free couple of services .

Legal requirements in most countries, but not in the UK, you don’t even need tax insurance or a licence over here :o
