Air Con Not Working

I recently had the Air con topped up because it was a bit poor but working.

Last week it suddenly stopped completely. the A/C light goes on but the compressor clutch does not engage.

Could this be electrical, maybe a fuse?

Does anyone have any wiring diagrams or fuse designations - they are unmarked in the dashboard of the Verso.

Hmmmm,

You have posted in the Avensis forum, you refer to a Verso and your details refer to a 2009 Yaris ??

hello mate

as far as i understand the A/C compressor is rotated once the engine is started.

The compressor is normally rotated as idle without pumping (!) and once you push the ON buttom (on the climate) - the signal is gone to the solenoid valve that is mounted in the compressor body resulting the gas is pumped on the big circuit (coompressor --> condensator ---> throthle valve ---> evaporator ---> compressor). In case small circuit (compressor---> compressor). You'd check with fuse responsible for this.

Thanks - I have found the diagrams and I will check it out. I am pretty sure it is full of gas as it was topped up recently and the failure was overnight.

BTW for richard.c - I have two Toyotas - a new Yaris which I like very much and an Avensis Verso . There is a lot in common with the Avensis such as failing ball joints and the engine management light coming on at 57K miles! The only other problem was the front brakes seizing - very expensive.
