hi guys i'm in a auto shop class right now and we need to find a couple things out, first the engine is out of the car, not sure which one it came from, it says "Toyota 2000 16 valve" on its valve cover. its a 4 cylinder of course.

if some one can post a pic of the way we are supposed to put the timing belt back on i would be very appreciative.

we also need to know how to take out the vavles with out damaging them.

also the cam specifications, how much to torque them and such.

and the head specs. how much to torque the heads.

and lastly, how to set up the timing, the timing isnt set on the engine right now.

thank you everyone,

Steve

Do you have access to a ''Haynes'' or ''Chiltons'' workshop manual for the front drive Celica?? All the information you need will be in there. As far as i'm aware it doesn't matter which way round you put the cambelt(it's not directional). Setting the valve clearances on these engines can be time consuming as they are set using different thickness shims. The torque setting for the camshaft bearing caps is 14 ft/lbs and for the cylinder head bolts it's 40 ft/lbs. To remove the valves once the head is off and the cams removed any suitably sized valve spring compressor will make removing the valves easy, just compress the spring remove the split collets release the compressor and push the valve out. Hope this is of some help
