Hi everyone!

Today I had Yet another dissapointment with my aygo...

It was full of dust, and dirt, so I went to the Jet wash, as I always did with previous cars, used the last program, (Only cold water) and started washing the car at about 1 foot distance.... the clearcoat from the front bumper started peeling off.... - Went to the dealership.... the guy that can approve the fix under warranty is on vacation... for the next 2 weeks.....

Has anyone had similar issues??

I usually wash the aygo in my GF's garage, using a special glove promitt_lrg.jpg

(Will post pictures later)

I am so angry... argh!!!

That's bad. Have you owned it from new? Could understand it if you'd bought nearly new as the car would likely have come off a rental fleet etc so could have had previous in-house repairs and been poorly done, but bad form on a new motor.

Hi!

Actually yes, I bought it supposedly new had 5 km's on the clock when I picked it up... not sure if it was involved in any accident, or had any repairs before I got it, but for all I know it should be brand new....

2mrw I will post a picture of the "damage"... hope its covered by warranty....

I have checked the owners manual and it doesnt state I cant wash the car using a jet washer....

I dont think you will have this type of problems,

after sales is rubbish here in portugal...

My car had a scratch the day I picked it up... they removed it by tring to polish it, 3 weeks after I purchased it....

They removed the scratch alright, but left me with the car full of swirls and holograms....

Modern paint finishes are water based and are softer than that on older cars. You should not use a pressure washer on your car, as you risk softening the lacquer coat and lifting it. Have heard similar stories with pressure washers on other makes of car including BMWs.

I honestly had no idea, but since the car is new, a co-worker convinced me to wax it, and always wash it with that type of glove. - I think its the first or second time I wash it with a pressure washer.... after its fixed, nothing but hand wash for it... it's not worth the risk.

Yes. I don't jet wash, but you would imagine that if paint came off in a jet wash then it wouldn't have much resistance to any kind of damage like stone chips or scuffs.

A month ago a large section of paint peeled off my front bumper. Took it to the dealer and the man from Toyota GB took a lot of paint thickness measurements from the rest of the bumper to see what had happened.

I've owned the car from new and it has never been crashed or resprayed, which Mr Toyota confirmed. It was still under warranty, just, so Toyota said sorry about that and gave me a new bumper. Apparently something may have gone wrong in the preparation of the surface before painting and that had prevented it sticking securely.

I guess if I have this problem on my otherwise mint car then probably others will too. Shame, but your dealer should fix it under warranty.

Paul.

I sure hope so, the thing is the guy responsible for approving this type of fixes under warranty for the Lisbon district is on leave until wednesday next week....

Will go to the dealer then for him to check it out...
