OK So new to this but need some help and advise.

My silencer has gone on my exhuast so needs replacing. Have found it on roughtrax a lot cheaper than garage quoted me. so am thinking maybe I can fit this myself?!

Am I being too ambitious or is it a relatively easy job to do?

Any help or guideance would be much appreciated as would be the first time I have ever even attempted to do anything like this. Have always been a garage type of gal, but money not going to stretch that far lol!

The hardest part is getting the bolts undone, so spray them with WD40 or similar rust release spray, also you might need some soap on the rubber exhaust hangers, an easy job with the correct equipment.

Hi Kim,

I have been trying to do more and more myself ( to save those pennies!!) the same as you. I have done the exhaust ( had to do the whole lot :( ) with a little help and got the parts from Roughtrax.

I had the same advice when doing mine and squirted all the bolts with WD40 the day before and again just before doing the job. What I do remember is that one set of bolts, not sure which now had welded nuts so you could only undo them from one side. Hope that makes sense and Andy might be able to confirm this too.

But to be honest I was really surprised how straight forward it was. I would definitely give it a go if you can.

Cara :)

Thanks for your replioes guys. It doesn't seem like too bad a job then?!

I have the SSRX 3.0l so don't think I should have the problem undoing the nuts, but will spray them with the ol WD40 the day before.

Thanks again and will let you know how it goes, or doesn't LOL

Those are the ones on the silencer just in front of the rear axle.

Hey just noticed you are only down the road from me!

That's correct, a few Surfs about in this area and I have sold a few around here, so if you get stuck I might be able to give you a hand with the exhaust, or you could try Andy Owen on the Bellbrook estate if urgent.
