Plastics And Rubber Maintenance.

1.After cleaning, polishing, claying and waxing my Yaris I am still wondering how to protect all the sensitive plastics, rubbers and sealants on her. Especially boot and side protectors, between-doors black protective, stickers, door sealants, dashboard, door inside plastics etc. As well as the fuzzy plastics that protect dirt from getting inside the door when sliding down the windows. You frequently see moss growing on them after few years :)

2.And another question, should I seal my tires from inside with tire protectors? We do it from outside to protect them from UV, salt, frost etc. but how about the inside, we can't see and reach very easily?

3.Btw. can we use any sealants or protectors on windscreen to prevent it from scratches and for easy cleaning?

For all plastics and rubber parts I use my favorite, 'Silicone Dry Lubricant' this will ensure the parts remain fresh and new looking, I always spray the black plastics before I wax the paintwork, that way it wont stain if you accidentally get any wax/polish on. It's also great on the rubber door seals it reduces the risk of the seals tearing if they freeze up in winter. I also use it on the headlights and rear light clusters to add that finishing touch.

Silicone spray can be used for the dash plastics but i prefer to use dashboard wipes,(less messy) but this is only done about 4 times a year, in between i use those fluffy dusters that you can buy from Aldi, absolutely wonderful for removing the dust that quickly settles on the mk2's black dash.

I've just been to Aldi today especially for some more dusters (£2.99 for 15 dusters plus you get the handle as well) and I am having to hide them from the wife!

Sorry i don't know of anything that can prevent scratches on the windscreen.

I use silicon spray bought about 7 years ago ... use it every two years or so. Not only does it keep plastics fresh, on dashboards and the disply removes all the dust and carp that sticks whatever you do...

We have a 16 year old Peugeot 106 treated like that from new: the plastics look as good as new...
