Aygo Wheel Bolts - Are They The Same For Steel & Alloy Wheels?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just a quick question - are the bolts for the steel wheels the same as the ones for alloys wheels?

Is there a difference? if so, what bolts do i need for alloys?

Thanks

Matt

They aren't the same and you need some funny-shaped bolts from Toyota. Last time I asked they were £8 each :o

Hi,

The bolts for steel wheels have a conical mating surface (part that exerts pressure on the wheel), whereas the alloys bolts have a flat mating surface with a washer. If your Aygo had alloys fitted from the factory, the bolts are hybrid and can be used on steelies. If not, you'll have to get toyota to supply correct bolts or R.l.P. Look at the AIM (accessory instalation manuals) section for alloys and it mentions the alloy wheel bolt part number.

Cheers

Hi everyone and thanks for the replys!

I have just had a look at that AIM manual - and compared my bolts with that photo - and it seems i do have the correct bolts for my alloy wheel upgrade (which is GREAT!)

Not often i get this lucky lol!

Just wondering -- can those bolts (the head) be polished so there like chrome - or has it got to be covers?

If covers - how do you get them to fit over a locking nut!?

Thanks again - very helpful!

Matt :)

These are the bolts that can be used for both steel wheels and alloys. They are probably designed that way because we don't get an alloy as a spare wheel

Has anyone tried polishing or chroming these bolts (the heads only)

Glad I found this reply. I was about to order some bolts for my steel rims.

Does the washer come off or does it stay on when used for steel rims?
