The only way to check timing is by taking the rocker cover off and aligning the crank pulley mark with the 0 degre mark on the timing cover, then presuming the crank is at 0 degrees TDC an the inlet cam mark (straight line on the VVTI controller) and the timing mark on the exhaust cam sprocket are both at the top (12 oclock) then the engine should be timed correctly. mark

No other tubes or sensors just about 12 10mm bolts on rocker cover and air filter housing.

Thanks for input! this is to check the valve timing and how about checking ignition timing? Cheers

Its all electronic based on engine sensors and computer software. Even if you could check it, you wouldn't be able to change it without remapping the ECU software.

the engine is totally electronic, only engines with a distributir (points ) can really be altered, you can check the ignition timing with a timing light but you just see the dot jumping around on the crank due to the VVT-I controller.
