Celica Gt-r Japanese Import Engine Oil

Greetings everyone, I am hoping someone can help me with a quick question about my Celica.

I have a J Reg (1991) Celica GT-R Japanese import and I was wondering what is the recommended engine oil for this car.

It has a 2ltr twin cam 16 valve automatic engine with about 75,000 miles on the clock.

I need to get some oil but don't want to hurt the engine by putting in the wrong stuff.

Cheers!

hi mate, ive got a JDM 95 reg gen6 celica and i put in Castrol edge 0-40w and found it used it within a week. these new synthetic oils are too thin and to be honest they werent even invented when the cars were made so they werent built to run on new fangled oils.

use a mineral oil or maybe better i got some Castrol high milage stuff for cars with 75,000+ miles on the clock. its a bit thicker so doesnt burn as easy and its designed for older cars. only cost me a fiver for a litre from asda

hope this helps?

automatic engine eh !!! auto gearbox maybe - but we know what you meant .

if you goto Castrol oils and enter your reg number they tell you the correct grade of oil to use.

id think 10-40w grade mineral oil would do you nicely.

Oooohhh!! hahaha did I really say that, automatic engine huh - sweet!! Must have been half asleep while writing that.

Thanks for the info and the help guys, I really appreciate it. I love my GT-R but I have very little experience in car mechanics.

Once again, thanks!
