Bang!

Filled my car up with petrol full to the brim yesterday then whilst driving about a mile later heard a really loud bang/pop sound. It was like when someones blows into an empty bag of crisps and pops it! Immediately stopped and got out and couldn't see anything on the road that I may have run over and nothing obviously wrong with the car either - no lights on dash and drives as normal.

I'm wondering if it was something to do with filling the petrol tank up, though I always fill it full. Sounded like it could have been a backfire/pop from the exhaust but it's never done that before and so I'm pretty worried.

Been searching the internet and it seems it's possible for the EGR valve to blow out. Any techs know where I could locate the EGR valve or does anyone else have any idea what it may be?

Have driven it about 15 miles since and no problems.

its probably because u filled it too much and there was too high preasure in the tank (preasre inside rises then hot and shaking). coz mine always do that then opening to fill the fuel (just not that loud). hope i could help

maybe your car is suffering integestion after filling it to the brim!

I have no idea what the pop could of been...

Either fuel tank too full and letting pressure off...or ur tyre run over a small stone and it "popped" out the side...

Can't see it being anything to do with the full tank.

I fill mine to the brim, have done for months now and never had this noise.

Have you checked around the rear axle, springs ect in case something has broke?

If there was a bang, and a loud one, sooner or later, you will know what caused it. Nothing happens with no reason ;) Hope it's nothing serious.

Maybe you ran over a crisp packet or something similar? ;)
