Throttle Cable Replacement 1990 Mk2.

Well the throttle cable finally snapped fortunately when I was at home. I have got a replacement cable but just wondered if anyone on here has replaced one. I can see in the engine bay and under the dash how its fixed but how is it fixed under the car? Does the plastic tray thing need to come off?

Any ideas, thoughts, etc would be most welcomed!

Unless you've had the undershields off yourself be prepared for the bolts which hold them on to snap. A common problem. Get some cable ties as a temporary repair. Better to re-drill and tap to fit new bolts when you have time/tools.

Underneath you will find that everything will be free of corrosion - so removing the old cable will be a doddle. Haven't had to do this job but it looks relatively straight-forward.

I would recommend either jacking up the rear end or using ramps to give sufficient access.
