Hi everyone,

The 1.33 version has been launched at Japan yesterday (20 Aug). I noticed that the HP and torque are reduced to 94 HP and 118 respectively and I can't seem to find the start-stop technology being mentioned in their jap website. However, one thing good to see is that they state the fuel consumption is on par with the smaller 1.0L bro.

Hi Kenopps,

I am from Singapore too. Have you ordered your iQ yet? Any idea who is giving the best deal here? Also, have you tried driving or sitting in it before? I have not driven it but have sat in it before. The back feels kind of cramp to me. What's your opinion? I am still deciding whether to get it. It does not seem as good an idea as in the European countries where parking spaces are limited.

Cheers,

Hi,

I'm glad to receive yr msg as I will not be the only one in sg =). I'm looking ard at the moment but wont commit unless I feel its a good deal (subjective huh). We tried filling it with 4 adults and here's the findings:

front passenger 1.86m with 1.65m at the back -> no problems and still little buffer left

1.7m driver with 1.72m at the back is not doable.

It's really a 3+1 seater so can't complain on the driver end if trying to seat an adult.

I hv seen the X and G model here in sg. price difference is huge.

In my consideration are Toyota Premio and iQ at the moment. Considering that I seldom ferry more than 3 pax nowadays, I feel iQ fits my needs better.

I like the iQ becoz of its excellent FC, luxury, big car feel, low road tax...not sure abt insurance though.

Hi,

Ya I am quite surprised to find a fellow Singaporean here as well. Thanks for the info on the size of the iQ. Feels like quite a squeeze to me. Nonetheless, the design and innovation overides that minor hiccup.

Sorry, I have only seen the G model thus far on SGcarmart and the car that I viewed is also a G model. May I know what's the difference between the two and the price difference?

I have same sentiment and the iQ will probably be a couple car for me.

Thanks!

Grade difference

X is the basic, G is higher grade.

G comes with leather wrap steering, climatic aircon, keyless entry and start button, anti theft system

The iQ at Pinnacle motors is actually a X version. Last quote before this coe was 55k gtn coe

Hi,

Thank you for the link. Based on the SGcarmart website, the iQs offered are the G model but based on the pamphlet given to me by Pinnacle, its a X model. Regardless, I was quoted 53k gtn coe and was offered the following.

Accessories: Leather, Sports rim, original player, FM converter, reverse sensor, solar film, carmat.

Ya but I believe it will start rising from next month onwards as the Singapore government cuts down on the supply of COEs. I am hoping to test drive it this weekend but will have to work out the finances further with my partner before deciding. How about yourself, are you getting it anytime soon? Maybe we can start a local iQ club haha... Do you know anyone who ACTUALLY owns an iQ in Singapore? Have yet to spot any on the local roads tho.

Hi Kenopps

Just test drove the iQ today...sort of. The PI i went to do not have a test drive car and I was given an unregistered car, thus it cannot go on the open road. All I did was drove it up and down the small stretch of road in front of the shop.

The car is an auto and as such the pick up from 0 is not very nippy. I floored the pedal but the car lugs along comfortably. Once the engine is up and running, the ride is smooth. At least for the 5 short minutes along the road. This probably is an unfair assessment of the iQ but I have no other options. In fact, the PI told me she is doing me a favour to let me test drive the car, normally they won't allow it. Maneuvering it in tight spaces is a breeze though! I would say the ride is comfortable and good enough for the Singapore expressway and road. Don't expect to burn the roads though.

The interior feels solid and comfortable for the front and really cramp for the seat behind the driver. Sound system is good, door feels solid like a Continental car.

However, the 59k price tag is too expensive for such a small package with a so-so engine. I probably will strike it off my list although I really love the design (the missus is not very enthusiastic about it).

Hope this little review helps you in your decision making.

Cheers,
