Gen7 Stereo Keys ?

Hello,

I have a Gen7 and am due to buy a new stereo as the one i have (from the earlier 2000 model) cannot be read on the display anymore, or turned off at the power button.

1. Does anyone know where to get the keys for this unit. Can i just get them from Halfords etc?

2. Anyone know where i can get a unit holder that will have a storage bit at the bottom. At the mo the area beneath is just a grey block.

3. Any descriptions/Pics on where the clip are to take off the dash surround (as wanting to fit it myself).

I too have just replaced my Standard stereo in my Gen 7 and its fairly easy.

Ime not normally 1 for Halfords shopping but in this case they had a surround for me same colour as my dash and i didn’t have to order it in so i would recommend trying their 1st failure to that search the net.

As for removing your previous stereo you need to remove the whole centre column from just before the Elec window switches (which should just pop up) then work your way up until you’ve reached the clock at the top, All this needs to be removed so that your able to get to the 4 10mm bolts holding the standard unit in.

1) Pop up centre column just before the elec window switches also unclip cig lighter.

2) Unscrew two screws holding in A/C and heater unit and unclip from the rear

3) Gently pop out the rest of the centre column up to the clock at top remember to unclip all clips from the rear but take care.

4) Undo 10mm bolts holding the headunit in.
