There Are No Budget Performance Tyres For The T-sport

I can't find any budget performance tyres for the standard 185/55 R15 as I don't really want to spend over £300 fitted for Eagle F1's (I do not see them lasting on such small wheels)

My favorites being Flaken FK452 (typically £230 fitted for my bigger Auris) and others being Uniroyals Rainsport 2 but both unavailable. Even Avon's performance do not do them.

Has anyone found a good compromises?

(I like my cars standard so will not be upgrading the alloys).

There are Toyo T1-R's for £86.90 delivered. Fitting and balancing per wheel ranges from £8-£20 per wheel depending on where you go.

The size is slightly odd, have you considered 195/50/R15? This size is much more common and from the same site the T1-R's are £62.80 delivered.

Do you think I have the wrong sized tyres? (I just got the car last week).

185/55 is standard fit on the T sport but most people run 195/50 as they are slightly wider and are usually cheaper, also better range of tyres in that size!

Thanks for the info 195/50 look much better and should last longer too! Toyo T1-R look like the best value though I know they don't last as long as the FK452. Or I may just sod it and get eagle F1's now.

Toyo's are what the usual lot go for when tuning up the yaris as they are cheap and offer awesome grip in the dry, shame about the wet traction though! lol

Yeah sure the Toyo's are tempting, but I tend to go for wet first (seems to rain all the time when I drive) then dry. Flaken FK452 and Uniroyals Rainsport 2 are very good value but not in either size. The Eagle F1s are the benchmark I use. It apears Gunzi has uprated tyers then do give the FK452 or Rainsport a try next as they are cheaper than Toyo.

My car came with cheap Accelera Beta that are bit nasty... though I seem to get more than 46mpg out of it :o just goes to show how nasty they really are with no traction.

I've run Toyos T1-Rs for years (including the older T1-S) and across a variety of cars, including a S14a, Nova GSi, Fiat Coupe 20vt and also the Yaris SR and not had any problems with them in the wet. I've also tried the Eagle F1's (fantastic all rounders), Uniroyal Rain Sport (excellent in the wet Toyo's better in dry), some God awful Ecstas (just awful), Pirelli P6000's (ditch finders) and many others I've probably forgotten about.

For yourself I'd go either Eagle F1's or the T1's depending on your budget. I've not found much between the two tyres in terms of outright grip, so I go for the cheaper Toyos.

From my own experience, no idea why, but people tend to run down the Toyo's over the F1's, I've run both on previous cars, and the F1's just didn't cut the mustard, whereas the Toyo's just lasted forever! When I sold the car they were on, they still looked almost new despite the fact they were nearly 18 months old! At that point the F1's had just about had enough of life!! Same car, same kind of conditions, same fitting centre, so what can I say!! I know where I'd put my money (the exact ones I had on my motor were the toyo proxes T1's for measure)

Also, I've seen a 350z fitted with the Toyo's and it stuck to the ground like glue, but was ever so slightly slippery on the F1's ... I guess in the end, it comes down to personal choice, nobody can make you go for something you don't want, but it's good to have all the info first :) ... personally, given past experiences, I'd stick with my choice in Toyo's ... only problem is, over here in NZ, Toyo's are a little pricey :S so I'm running Yokohama until I can afford to swap!!
