Right guys, just seeing if I can drum up some interest on here, ideally want to keep it to TOC but may go to other toyota based forums if I do not get the numbers

I have been looking into running a track day next year, something a bit more relaxed but still fun and came across this:

Hi Mark, Thanks for your interest & subsequent enquiry to which I hope we can be of assistance. Firstly there would be no problem whatsoever catering for a club trackday, which we can tailor to your requirements. We would normally work on a maximum of 30 cars, 35 at a squeeze, running 15 to 17 cars on track at any one time. For a club social day out, I would recommend the standard day format, of briefing, sighting laps, open pit lane through until lunchtime, one hour lunch, back on track for part of the afternoon, and then finishing off with a 10 minute qualifying session in a twin engined kart, and a 15 minute race. Included in the day would be bacon or sausage rolls with tea or coffee for breakfast, and a buffet lunch with chips etc at a total cost of £99.

We can run up to 105Db, and the day would be run in a relaxed manner.Let me know what your feelings are, and bear in mind we can run the day to your specific requirement should the standard format be of no interest.

There are a few options as to the layout of the track to get the right mix of corners and striaghts so that it evens out the playing field a little.

I am thinking about doing it Mid May (working around my rugby season) and so the weather might be ok.

So to summarise, a track day, with food inc and a high Db limit, PLUS karting all for 99 of your finest english (or scottish welsh or irish) pounds!

And then after a trip to a local take away for a Parmo!!

There have been track days posted up a few times and very little interest was shown :(

Never mind, if I do not get the interest here I will open it to the starlet forums and japnortheast :)

Teesside is a good track and to get karting thrown in is pretty good value :D

However, bear in mind that it is miles away from a lot of members. When we race there with the Toyota Sprint Series, quite a few of us drive there in the morning on Saturday and start the track time at about 3pm going through until late (9-10pm).

This means we can book the nearby Premier Inn for one night only and drive back on the Sunday.

If you could organise something like this, and maybe block-book a hotel, then it might be a bit more feasible. Plus we get a party afterwards in the hotel

Ill look into it, I know you cant please everyone but loads of people travelled to bruntingthorpe, it was about 140 ish miles from me, some came from far further!

Could always arrange camping nearby and have a party there?

The Autodrome allows camping for £5 each per night though it does have to be a minimum of 30 peeps

If it doesn't clash with a sprint we could be interested despite the 287 mile trip there & 287 back

oooo that would be quite good, although not sure we could get 30 peeps for camping as well as the track day, although I would happily make a weekend of it, plus means can have a Parmo on both days

The price is very good, the distance is a fair way for me in Kent though. Do they lend out helmets?

I am not sure but I cant see it being a problem as it is a Karting track

Also this is on UKstarlet club and is generating plenty of interest there now

C'mon peeps!

There's far too much talk of track days on here that come to nothing when costs/location are mentioned.

This deal is very good value for what they offer and i'm deffo up for it!

The date proposed is the weekend of the 8/9th of May to help give an idea on the time scale

We have spoken about track days at several meets, time for people to make that a reality

I have more suggestions :D

You could just do a track day where you drive round and round for a while, but that might not work all that well at Teesside as it is quite a compact circuit.

Instead, why not make it a sprint race day, but with rules which might make it possible for any car to win rather than just the most powerful. Then you get less risk of an accident (only one car on the track at a time, nobody to run into you) plus we all get the excitement of racing at our own pace.

A possible rule might be that the winning driver is the one with the most consistent set of lap times at the end of the day (so you set your own speed) and there could be a prize for that. Although you could probably make up some other competition which would be fair for all drivers.

You could speak to Javelin about what it would cost to hire their timing equipment and operators. I think this sort of format might appeal more broadly across TOC, particularly to track novices who are worried about hassle from quicker drivers.

Cheers for the idea Paul but not really wanting to turn it into a race, just a fun day out where people can enjoy themself and go on track as much as they want. I know that might bore people hence why we will change the track a bit when possible and I will be going to check it all out and plan the day before.

Also most insurance companies wont cover you for track days so I am looking into getting a good track day deal for everyone

****UPDATE****

Just an update guys, seems everything is still ok for the track day, just need to set a definate date, get numbers and deposits.

The track are requiring a 25% deposit early in the new year so once we have a date etc set in stone I will be needing a deposit of £25 from those coming. If you are still interested please let me know

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the e-mail, and it sounds as though you have been busy generating some interest.

The situation and arrangement is still as we discussed previously, and if you look at the forum on the website, we really have been receiving good feedback. We increased the maximum number to 35 cars, with 16 on track, and it appears to be working very well with no queuing & no congestion on track.

Regarding a day in early May, that doesn't pose a problem, and you need to decide whether you want a dedicated day, or sharing an existing day, but if you want a dedicated day, I need to check circuit availabilty & confirm what dates would be suitable. We have a day already planned for the 14th May, which can be utilised, or we will lay on a specific day.

If you would prefer to run on an existing day, then the bookings would be made through the booking link on the website, and if we organise a specific day, then we would require a 25% deposit early in the New Year because we would have to commit to the circuit. The balance would be required four weeks in advance of the day. and that would be made direct to us by either cheque, or BACS payment.

I hope this fits in with your idea, but should you want to discuss something in more detail, feel free to call me

Look forward to hearing from you in due course,

Best regards, Howard

Well I must say, I am disappointed at the lack of interest from on here!

Can a mod please change the title to say "Track Day 8/9th May 2010" please?

Will I get in trouble putting a link in each sub forum?
