engine boring is most effective on big v6/v8 engines etc cos there's so much more power to release.

Would boring a yaris not mess up the vvti?

I used to chat go an american guy with an echo, and he had somethin installed which meant that when he pressed a button his VVT-i would kick in at 1000rpm instead of 4500rpm....

this would make a GREAT difference to this little car, fuel consumption would be scary though.

Hi

When does the vvti actually kick in does anyone know as this has been talked about before but noone seemed sure. I thought it was across the ref range at various points not just at high revs. People with VTEC seem to feel it is a one point (5000 or 6000). I thought that was what the intelligent was about. Interesting about the button wonder how that would work and performance difference would make?

Thanks

si

I have looked it up. Its continous vvt. All explained on following website.

Another Example : Toyota VVT-i

Macro illustration of the phasing actuator

Toyota's VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing - Intelligent) has been spreading to more and more of its models, from the tiny Yaris (Vitz) to the Supra. Its mechanism is more or less the same as BMW’s Vanos, it is also a continuously variable design.

However, the word "Integillent" emphasis the clever control program. Not only varies timing according to engine speed, it also consider other conditions such as acceleration, going up hill or down hill.

Do u have/would u have to get the ecu chipped to increase the amount of fuel i njected into the cylinders as they would be increasing in size???
